Now is your time to get current on materials, and master manufacturing processes. Start by consulting the experts. Have conversations with as many relevant manufacturers as you can. Don’t pretend to know anything you don’t, but don’t be shy to show what you do. Ideally this happens in a language and culture you’re native to, even if final production ends up happening abroad.
Order and test materials/products each prospective supply chain partner produces to evaluate quality.
Take note of their communication speed, pricing, flexibility, locations, previous experience, and all other factors that will impact your relationship with them. Few things can make or break a product faster than an unstable supply chain.
